DAY 1 - May/June/July 2015 (AIRPORT/NEGOMBO)

Transfer from Airport to Negombo will take 20 minutes (12km)

DAY 2 – May/June/July 2015 (NEGOMBO/KANDY)

The following morning, after a buffet breakfast you will leisurely depart for the hill capital of Sri Lanka, Kandy.

En route you will visit the Pinnawela elephant orphanage.

Transfer from Negombo to Pinnawala will take approx 2 hours (85 km)

“Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants located atPinnawala village, 13 km (8.1 mi) northwest of Kegalle town in Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. Pinnawala is notable for having the largest herd of captive elephants in the world”

Lunch to be taken at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanange

Afterwards you will continue on your way to Kandy.

Transfer from Pinnawala to Kandy will take approx 1 and a half hours (45km)

After arriving in Kandy you will check in at the See Kandy (3*Property) Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure to recover from the long journey.

After taking some time to settle you will visit the Temple of the tooth which is walking distance from the hotel.

Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country.

After exploring the wonders of the temple you have the option of witnessing the spectacle of Kandyan dancing in the nearby YMBA theatre.

Afterwards you will return to the hotel for overnight.

DAY 3 – May/June/July 2015 (KANDY/NUWARA ELIYA)

After breakfast you will check out of the hotel and visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya.

“Royal Botanical Garden, Peradeniya is situated about 5.5 km to the west from the city of Kandy in the Central Province of Sri Lankaand attracts 2 million visitors annually.[1] It is renowned for its collection of a variety of orchids. It includes more than 4000 species of plants, including of orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees”

After visiting the gardens you will leave at leisure for the city of Nuwara Eliya via Ramboda (85km transfer will take approx. 2 and a half hours) The route from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya is home to a plethora of waterfalls, valleys and amazing vistas. You are free to stop wherever you like on the way to enjoy these beautiful sights. Also if you are interested you can stop by at one of the many tea factories for a brief tutorial on how the perfect cup of Ceylon tea comes to be made.

Nuwara Eliya is a city, in the hill country of the Central Province, Sri Lanka. The city name meaning is "city on the plain (table land)" or "city of light". The city is the administrative capital of Nuwara Eliya District, with a picturesque landscape and temperate climate. It is located at an altitude of 1,868 m (6,128 ft) and is considered to be the most important location for Tea production in Sri Lanka

On arrival you will check in at Tea Bush Hotel.

The evening will can be spent exploring the Nuwara Eliya, A walk around the gregory lake is not to be missed.

DAY 4 – May/June/July 2015 (NUWARA ELIYA/YALA)

The next day you will make an early start to the day as you have an early breakfast and leave for Yala.

The 185km transfer will take approx. 4 – 5 hours.

Lunch to be taken at an outside location in Yala

On arrival you will check in at the Priyankara Hotel (3 star property)

Afterwards you will visit the Yala National Park.

“Yala National Park is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka. The park consists of five blocks, two of which are now open to the public and also adjoining parks. The park covers 979 square kilometers (378 sq. mi) and is located about 300 kilometers (190 mi) from Colombo. Yala was designated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1900, and, along with Wilpattu was one of the first two national parks in Sri Lanka, having been designated in 1938. The park is best known for its variety of wild animals. It is important for the conservation of Sri Lankan Elephants, Sri Lankan leopards and aquatic birds.”

DAY 5 – May/June/July 2015 (YALA/GALLE/BENTOTA)

After breakfast you will be transferred to Balapitiya.

Transfer from Yala to Balapitiya will take approx. 5 hours (195km)

En route you will make a pitstop at another UNESCO heritage city : Galle.

“Galle is a major city in Sri Lanka, situated on the southwestern tip of Sri Lanka, 119 km fromColombo. Galle is the administrative capital of Southern Province, Sri Lanka and is the district capital of Galle District.
